The Oberbank charity concert in aid of Neighbours in Need – Help for Ukraine – was held recently. The Oberbank Forum was filled to capacity and we were there, too.

“I play the trumpet, the piano and I compose. But my greatest passion is conducting”, says Matthias Achleitner (18) from Aichkirchen near Lambach. The young talent used the long stillstand to found his symphony orchestra – the Upper Austrian Philharmonic Orchestra.

The young musician Matthias Achleitner has always been fascinated by the impressive sound of a symphony orchestra. After he convinced about 60 musicians of his idea, the new orchestra can hold its first concert on Friday.

Young people, who want to accomplish something, maybe found a Punk band. Or an orchestra. Matthias Achleitner belongs to the second group. With a Punk band it’s fine, but how do you found an orchestra?

Our annual culture trip brings us into the Anton-Bruckner private university. Several ensembles presented their musical ability in the great hall of the university.

The traditional autumn concert of the TMK Neukirchen bei Lambach took place on the 30th November 2019. The diversified program was for the first time composed by our 3 bandmasters. “Sounds of the Neighbourhood” was produced by the orchestras of the Linz Music High School and the Prague City High School on 15 November at the Bruckner University in Linz…

This joint project has been going on for 20 years, with the artistic directors of Link and Prague conducting half each. This year, for the first time, a student was allowed to take the conductor’s podium and conduct the Linz part, as he constantly impresses so much with his performances…

The youth orchestra from Neukirchen bei Lambach under the baton of Matthias Achleitner participated at the YO-competition of Upper Austria in Marchtrenk and received a great assessment.
